Time to Sink or Swim

Posted Jan 1st, 2006 at 9:58 am in Life in General

Well, the last few days have been quite tiring. I’ve now completely moved into my new apartment. Everything’s in boxes though…

The next few days I will be unpacking and trying to get an internet connection. In the meantime, I may occasionally seek out public access points for internet, but you might not hear from me for a few days.

I’m currently blogging from my parents house, taking care of the last remaining things at my old house. I leave today for San Angelo with a beautiful wife, the coolest cat in the world, and high hopes of becoming a real biologist. (Not just a poser who blogs about it all day.)

It’s a little scary — the unknown. I don’t know a soul down there except for a couple of professors. We’ll have to make new friends, learn new roads, and (scariest of all for me) find a new church.

It’s also exciting. Like Darwin or Wallace, I “set sail” today in search of adventure, knowledge, and understanding.

The coming weeks and months ahead will probably be a little difficult at times. For my readers out there, keep me in your prayers (if you’re that kind of a reader) or your thoughts (if the latter suits you better).

Check back often too. I may post a little less frequently in grad school, but I like this thing called blogging and don’t plan on giving it up.

Jay, good luck in grad school. It is a little scary moving off and going to a new school where you don’t know anyone–I should know. However, I know you and Amy will do just fine wherever you end up, may it be San Angelo or the Galapagos Islands. Oh, also there is a young couple at our church here in San Antonio that used to live in San Angelo. I’m not sure what church they went to, but they really loved the people there and had a hard time leaving. I’ll try and find out what church it was so maybe you guys can visit there (are there a lot of churches in San Angelo? I thought it was a small town.).

    Happy New Year!

  2. Mary, thanks for the comment. Glad I haven’t scared you off with all my rantings and ravings!

I sure would love to know where they went. Amy and I will visit lots of places. I’m sure San Angelo probably has a few churches, though nowhere can have quite as many as Abilene, I would think.

Just leave another comment or use the contact me link in the navigation.

    Thanks.
