A Brief History of the Discovery Institute

The Seattle Weekly has a lengthy article up on the Seattle-based Discovery Institute, which of course has been the driving force behind intelligent design.

The article gives a history of how the institute came to be, how incredibly successful some of it’s marketing slogans have been, how the Wedge Document (which if you haven’t seen it before, you need to now) got leaked out to the public, and the implications of Judge Jones’ complete smackdown to intelligent design in the Dover, PA trial. The article also does an excellent job of identifying religious motivations and affiliations of those involved in the DI, rather than scientific motivations.

In short, it’s a well-written and well-researched piece, which goes straight to the heart of what drives intelligent design. (Here’s a hint. It ain’t science.)
