Super Bowl Sunday — Who Cares?

Posted Feb 5th, 2006 at 8:51 am in Birding, Culture

The super bowl’s today. Who’s playing? Why should I care?

I’m going birding this afternoon. We have a report of Long-eared Owls on a ranch up north.

Update: The trip was a success. We had approximately a dozen Long-eared Owls, and got excellent looks at them. Getting pictures proved to be much harder. (I don’t really have a proper camera and lens for bird photography anyway.)

Can you see him?

  1. I have the bowl on, only because I wanted to see some amusing commercials (so far only a few were worth a giggle). Only in America would a number of people watch a premier sporting event primarily for the ad breaks. :P Happy birding.

  2. Let’s hear about those long-eared owls.

I’m glad God judges people as individuals, not as members of a certain class, culture, or nation.

  3. Laura Packer interjects:

Ah, yes, I see him! Enjoyed reading about your trip via Texbirds.

  4. I think I picked out the Long-eared Owl – is it just to the right of and slighlly above center? BTW, enjoyed the pictures posted on your outing to the ranch at the head of the Concho.

  5. Yes sir! You can barely see one eye, both “ears” (they’re just feathers), and his white eyebrows. Compare that to the good pictures of Long-eared Owls at the link I provided at the beginning of the post…
